Bert Brodsky's Biography :

Bert E. Brodsky, our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer founded what was to become Sandata Technologies, Inc. in 1970. Our corporate mission then, and now, is to deliver valuable information technology solutions that yield administrative cost savings, genuinely streamline operational procedures, and significantly reduce the paperwork burdens to our customers who deliver service to people in need. In 1970 Sandata was a pioneer when it began to deploy computers for data processing of Physician's billing. Subsequently, Mr. Brodsky was joined by Hugh Freund and Gary Stoller to develop an outsourced scheduling, billing and payroll processing solution for Home Health Care Agencies under contract to the City of New York's Human Resources Administration (HRA). These home care agencies delivered (and continue to deliver) home attendant services to Medicaid-eligible New York City residents. Through the efforts of Mr. Brodsky, Mr. Freund, and Mr. Stoller, the SHARP system (Sandsport Home Attendant Reporting Program) was created to deliver outsourced scheduling, billing and payroll software and data processing services to the City of New York's Home Attendant Program. Over the years the SHARP system has been improved and expanded. Recently, we introduced "HC Plus." HC Plus is our easy-to-use, outsourced software and data processing system for home healthscheduling, billing and payroll processing. HC Plus is a comprehensive solution that can manage the requirements of Medicaid as well as private pay contracts. As SHARP and now HC Plus was developing to fill a need, our Santrax solution was about to be conceived and launched to fill yet another need. It was early in 1994, during meetings with representatives of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY), Sandata accepted the challenge to develop a system to verify patient coverage in the home. Sandata then began its work to integrate the use of the telephone with computers and an internally developed software application. Our idea was for the home health care worker to call into the Santrax system using the telephone in the patient's home and a toll-free phone number. The Santrax system would time and date stamp the call and recognize the location of origin of the call from the phone number in the patient's home. The actual visit data could be retrieved via the Internet through management reports at the supervisor's desktop PC in the office. At about that same time, Sandata began talking with representatives of the City of New York Human Resources Administration's (HRA) Home Attendant Program to find a way to help them verify that they paid for visits that actually occurred and that they would pay only for the actual time that the home attendant spent in the patient's home. Once this need was identified, Sandata's professionals went to work to develop a solution that would be second to none and our Santrax Telephony for home care product was created. Then, after experiencing the benefits of telephony for several years, The City of New York's Human Resources Administration made the decision to require that any home health care agency that contracts with the Home Attendant Program must use a Telephony For Home Care system. This policy remains in place today. Santrax is now the nation's number one home health care visit management solution. Santrax is the most robust telephony solution offered as an outsourced Application Service Provider (ASP) with 3 data center sites in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania complete with disaster recovery and full HIPAA compliance. Santrax generates over 42 million home health care calls annually, and continues to grow. Sandata Technologies, Inc.’s rich history continues to be a work in progress. In 2003, Stephen A. Silverstein became the President of Sandata Technologies, Inc., and his mission is to push the boundaries of new technology, delivering the best in customer service and value to our customers. Under Mr. Silverstein’s leadership we have leveraged our expertise and success in Home Healthcare and have introduced the benefits of Santrax Telephony to Child Welfare, Foster Care and Preventive service agencies. We are happy to report that we have several very successful installations in New York City, with a number of others scheduled for implementation in the very near future. Additionally, in June of 2005, Sandata acquired the three telephony patents from MCI that are the technological core of Santrax. This is an important acquisition that demonstrates our commitment to keeping Santrax the #1 Telephony Visit Management Solution available on the market today. It is with Mr. Silverstein’s strong leadership and reinforced by our values of creativity, innovation and dedication to customer service we at Sandata Technologies, Inc. will continue to add chapters to our history. We remain committed to our mission to “Improve the Business of Care” for social services agencies, the people that work for them and the people they serve.
