Bernard P. Codd is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Washington, D.C. office. As a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, Bernard concentrates his practice on patent prosecution and opinions in the areas of semiconductor device and manufacturing, battery, fuel cell, photolithography, chemical, metallurgy, and polymer technologies.
Prior to joining the Firm, Bernard was a primary patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, in the photolithography, electrophotography, semiconductor, and photovoltaic arts.
Previously, he served as both a research engineer and a project engineer in the research, development, and manufacture of a wide range of electrochemical cells for high and low power applications.
While attending the University of Baltimore School of Law, Bernard was an associate editor of the University of Baltimore Law Review and the manuscript editor for the University of Baltimore Intellectual Property Law Journal. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
