Ben Wildavsky is a Senior Fellow in Research and Policy at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City. At Kauffman, his work informs a range of initiatives in the Foundation’s key grant-making areas of education and entrepreneurship. Prior to joining the Foundation, Ben was assistant managing editor for Education and Ideas at U.S. News & World Report, where he supervised coverage of education, books, religion, and history for the weekly newsmagazine and served as editor of America’s Best Colleges and America’s Best Graduate Schools. Ben helped shape several award-winning cover stories, and also served as national education correspondent for three years. He was the lead author of the U.S. News Ultimate Guide to Becoming a Teacher. As a consultant to the Teaching Commission, a national panel, he was the author and editor of Teaching at Risk, an influential report on how to reform teaching.Previously, Ben covered economic policy for the National Journal, higher education for The San Francisco Chronicle, and was executive editor of The Public Interest. Articles by Ben have also appeared in The New Republic, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, and other publications. He has served as a panelist or moderator at conferences sponsored by the American Council on Education, the Association of American Universities, the Century Foundation, the College Board, and many others. He was a Media Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution in 2004 and 2005. Ben is a summa cum laude graduate of Yale University. |
