Ben Parry was born in New London, North Carolina and raised in Albemarle. He played soccer for North Stanly High School where he was all-conference, all-state and set the state record for most goals scored in a season. He joined Park Sharon Soccer Club (a predecessor to CSC) at the age of 14 and was a Co-Captain during his entire tenure with the team. The team won numerous state cups, tournaments, and honors during this time. Based on these achievements Ben was recruited to and was a scholarship player at UNC Charlotte. He was one of two freshman to start on his team (the other was John Bush of the Columbus Crew). The team was ranked in the top ten nationally during all four years and was ranked in the top four for two of those years. During his college career Ben received honors for being all-Conference, all-South and all-American. He was co-captain of the team for two years and the team MVP for two years. He also won the David Schlee Memorial Award twice which is presented to the Player that best exemplifies David Schlee’s desire to succeed. Following his college career Ben was picked in the first round as the third overall pick in the 1998 Major League Soccer Draft (by the San Jose Clash). He then played for the Charlotte Eagles of the A-League in 2001 and was a director of coaching at CSC for two years from 2001-2002. He has won numerous state titles as a game coach and numerous state titles as a director of coaching. |
