Dr. Barry Andrews, Vice Chairman of 8x8, Inc., oversees all existing and future research, development and carrier partner activities. Previously, Andrews served as President, Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technical Officer, managing the development and deployment of the Packet8 VoIP service. Earlier in his career, he held various management roles at 8x8, including Director of Software Engineering and Director of Video Research & Development. With more than ten years of experience in audio, video and telecommunications research and product development, Dr. Andrews holds several U.S. patents in the areas of video compression and communications. He was an active participant in various standards bodies
including the Video Coding Experts Group of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). Andrews received a B.A. in Engineering Science from Simon Fraser University as well as an M.S in Electrical Engineering, an M.S. in Statistics, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University |
