Arthur L. Silberman is a senior partner of Cooper, White & Cooper LLP and head of the firm's Tax Practice Group. He has over 45 years' experience advising and counseling clients in the areas of tax, finance, and general business matters. Mr. Silberman handles federal and state, and civil and criminal tax audits through all levels and provides advice on business organization and operations, mergers and acquisitions, nonprofit and tax exempt entities, and investments and financial planning. He also provides advice regarding foreign operations and serves as general counsel for clients involved in real property investment, manufacturing, golf course management and distribution. Mr. Silberman is an active member of the taxation sections of the American Bar Association, the Bar Association of San Francisco and the State Bar of California, and served as a member of the Internal Revenue Service's Northern California District Practitioner's Panel from 1996 to 1999. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Tax Court, and the California state courts. Mr. Silberman has published in the legal and business fields and has lectured on tax and business matters for the California Continuing Education of the Bar, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Enrolled Agents and The Entrepreneurship Institute. Mr. Silberman received his B.S. degree with honors from the University of California at Berkeley and served as a captain in the United States Air Force. He received his J.D. degree with honors from the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law. During law school, he was selected to the Order of the Coif and served as associate editor of the California Law Review. Mr. Silberman was a director of the Sausalito-Marin City Sanitary District from 1984 to 1992. |
