Arnold Perl Biography :

Arnold Perl brings over thirty years of experience practicing labor and employment law to Ford & Harrison. He focuses his practice on labor law and advocacy before the U.S. Courts of Appeals. Arnold also serves as a Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator. He has a great depth of experience with the NLRB and was one of only 25 management labor attorneys appointed to serve on the NLRB Advisory Panel under then Chairman William Gould. Prior to joining Ford & Harrison, Arnold was a founding member of Young & Perl, PLC in Memphis, TN where he practiced labor and employment law for over three decades. Earlier in his career he served as an attorney with the National Labor Relations Board in Memphis and in Washington, DC.

Arnold has received national and international recognition - including being listed in The Best Lawyers in America for all 25 years, a similar listing in Chambers USA and a listing in International Who's Who of Management Labour and Employment Lawyers. Arnold was named a "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics Magazine in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, he was named one of the "150 Best Lawyers" in Tennessee by Tennessee Business Magazine. Arnold is also AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

In addition, Arnold has received recognition in both Business Tennessee Magazine as one of the Top 100 of "Tennessee's Most Powerful People" and named to "Who's Who" in Memphis Magazine as one of the Top 100 Influential Leaders 2005-2006 and 2006-2007. In 2005, he received the Communicator of the Year Award so Honored & Recognized by the Memphis Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. He was inducted into the Airport Minority Advisory Council Hall of Fame in 2006 for his efforts to grow airport diversity and was a recipient at the 2006 Diversity Memphis Humanitarian Awards Dinner as Humanitarian of the Year for his contribution to the promotion of tolerance in the Memphis community. In 2007, Arnold was presented by the government of Japan with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, in recognition of his contributions to the U.S.-Japan relationship in Tennessee.

Arnold serves as Chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority, shaping and directing the decisions of Memphis' economic engine. Arnold also serves as Chairman of the New Memphis Arena Public Building Authority, which received great acclaim for the construction of the FedExForum, home of the NBA Memphis Grizzlies. He is Secretary and Counsel, Memphis Regional Chamber of Commerce; Chairman Emeritus, Japan-America Society of Tennessee; Chairman Emeritus (Co-Chair), Southeast US/Japan Association; Trustee Emeritus, University of Tennessee; and, a member of the Executive Board of SunTrust Bank in Memphis. He is the chairman for the Memphis Regional Chamber's Regional Logistics Council for 2006-2007. Arnold is President of his synagogue, Temple Israel, in Memphis.

In 2006, Arnold co-authored a business book, Simple Solutions, with Tom Schmitt from FedEx and published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The book offers expert guidance and real-world insight on making collaboration work, tailoring leadership styles to fit team needs, assembling great teams and inspiring people. According to the authors, when it comes to leadership, simple is better. The authors explain how to harness the power of passion and simplicity to get results.

Frequently quoted in the nation's top newspapers, Arnold's remarks have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, LA Times and The Commercial Appeal. His published works include "Employee Involvement Groups: The Outcry Over the NLRB's Electromation Decision," 44 Lab. L.J. 195, April 1993.

He is a member of the Memphis, Tennessee (Chairman, Labor and Employment Law Section, 1987) and American (Member, Labor and Employment Law Section, Practice and Procedure Committee, NLRB and Co-Chairman, Relations Between Lawyers Agencies and Departments in the Field of Labor Law, 1980) Bar Associations.

During law school, Arnold was a member of the Editorial Board of the University of Illinois Law Review.
