Anne Marie Axworthy is a Spokane, Wash. native and has been with Avista for 25 years, first starting as a summer student employee in the line office while attending Washington State University. She has held a variety of positions and currently is director of community relations and public affairs, and heads the Avista Foundation, the primary charitable giving vehicle for Avista Corp.
Anne Marie feels it is important for Avista to be involved in the communities it serves because the company has a responsibility to provide more than just energy services.
Avista has a real impact on people’s lives, said Anne Marie. We take that responsibility seriously, and community involvement is one way we recognize and live up to that responsibility. We believe that sharing our time, talent and treasure in the community is as sound a business principle now as it was when we were founded nearly 115 years ago.
Active in many community projects, Anne Marie is on the board to bring a science center to Spokane, and is on the boards of directors for the YWCA of Spokane and the Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs (SNAP). She and her husband spend time at Priest Lake, Idaho during the summer, enjoy snow skiing, traveling and spending time with their three grown sons. |
