Andrew Albert has been a member of the New York City Transit Riders Council (NYCTRC) since 1986 and has served as its chairman since 1988.
The Council has been a partner with MTA New York City Transit in the design of new bus signs, new subway cars, system maps, diversion routings, and stations being rehabilitated.
Long interested in public transportation, Mr. Albert has detailed knowledge of the New York City transportation network, including subways and buses, commuter rail lines, and PATH, as well as several foreign systems.
Mr. Albert is co-chairman of the transportation committee of New York City Community Board 7 and was a member of the 42nd Street Transitway Advisory Committee, which planned a possible light rail system along 42nd Street.
Since 1983, Mr. Albert has been executive director of the West Side Chamber of Commerce, a civic membership organization that serves Manhattan’s West Side. The Chamber sponsors two of the largest street festivals in New York City, the Columbus Avenue Festival in the fall and the Amsterdam Avenue Festival in the spring. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District, which covers the area from Columbus Circle to Lincoln Center.
Mr. Albert graduated from American University in 1971. He lives on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. |
