Mr. Goldstein graduated with a B.S. degree in Commerce from the University of Virginia, McIntyre School of Commerce in 1983. He received his J.D. degree from University of Bridgeport School of Law in 1986, and attended Georgetown University Master of Laws Tax Program in 1987.Mr. Goldstein counsels both business and consumer borrowers that have become involved in distressed credit situations. He counsels and represents consumer and business clients negotiating, and sometimes litigating, workouts, restructurings, and reorganizations. He has represented clients in numerous chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Goldstein represents hotels, restaurants, real estate developers and shopping centers among his business clients and also represents individuals in restructuring and reorganizing their financial and credit situations. He has represented numerous unsecured creditors committees in chapter 11 bankruptcy cases and has helped secure meaningful returns for creditors. Mr. Goldstein has also been a chapter 7 panel trustee in the Western District of Virginia since 2003 and has handled thousands of chapter 7 bankruptcy cases as a trustee.Mr. Goldstein has lectured frequently on bankruptcy and insolvency matters in both the classroom setting and to peer groups. He was named among the Legal Elite by Virginia Business Magazine and was elected by his peers as one of "The Best Lawyers of America."
