Mr. Hughes has more than 25 years of banking experience. He joined BB&T as a regional president in 2003 through the First Virginia Banks Inc. merger. While at First Virginia he held various positions in retail banking commercial banking and general management. In 1995 he was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of First Virginia Bank-Colonial as well as a Director of the Board.
