Allie Biondi Biography :

Allie Biondi. A Timeline. Aug.19th, 1983- It was a good day. National Lampoon's Vacation had been out for a week and was still at number 2. "Every Breath You Take" by The Police was the number 1 song. The Red Sox lost to the Milwaukee Brewers, but that surely was no big surprise. And me, I was born! 1987- Went to St. Andrews Musical Kindergarten, where I learned I wanted to be a rock star. My favorite band was Alvin and the Chipmunks. Mickey and Friends knew how to rock, but they didn't have Theodore, and I was going to marry him. 1988- Started school in Manchester, NH. I wore a pink dress and pigtails and cried at the end of the day because I didn't know where my brothers were. In third grade I decided I wanted to be a children's book illustrator. More ideally, I wanted to make cartoons. I liked playing drums and bass guitar, so I joined a band in jr. high, but upon playing shows decided I was one of those rock stars that wouldn't tour often, as people watching you so intently was quite overwhelming. 2001- Began attending Massachusetts College of Art for animation. Here I learned such important things as: I don't fancy working with power tools; it's easier to say hi to someone than to stand next to them awkwardly; making new friends is as important as learning new things; and I like doing my homework. 2005- I graduated from MassArt and thought "Hm. What now?" My plan was to work at a hostel on Martha's Vineyard for the summer, and I had everything lined up. Then I saw an ad in Craigslist for an animator (at a company called FableVision?you may have heard of them) and I figured, might as well try! Their mission was similar to the way I felt in my heart, so it seemed right. My friend drove me to the interview, pumping me up with confidence the whole time (good friends are lucky stars!). As soon as I met with Gary and John, I knew this was what I wanted, and these were the people I wanted to work with. (And luckily enough for me, they wanted to work with me too!) So here I am, two years later working with FV full-time. I was able to accomplish my goal of being an animator, since I helped Peter turn Ish into an animated film. I left for a little while to work with another studio, and made some new friends - but ended up finding my way back here. It feels like home, and that's the best place to be. The Future- Aside from walking on the moon, I intend to be a published children's illustrator and to continue animating my own stories. If you want to hear about my latest work, just ask! Please bear with my stumbling in explaining it verbally until I show you the doodles. If you'd like to see my artwork, check out 24crayons.com. There's a link to my sketch blog, which is more frequently updated (and has links to other FV artists' blogs!)
