Allen Jacobi Biography :

Allen Jacobi is a pioneering music industry attorney and record label president who has earned a platinum reputation among musicians and industry insiders. Jacobi established his career in the entertainment industry in 1979 as a practicing entertainment attorney whose roster of clients included many music and film industry luminaries. On behalf of his music clients and close associations, Jacobi has been awarded many gold and platinum records from such internationally acclaimed artists as The Eric Clapton Band, The Eagles, Inner Circle, Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine, Marilyn Manson, Two Live Crew and Trick Daddy, to name a few. By 1981 he had earned his first gold record and #1 Billboard single. Early in his career, Mr. Jacobi represented most of the exponents, of what was then known as, the Miami Sound, made famous by such artists (and Jacobi clients) as Betty Wright, Timmy Thomas, and KC & the Sunshine Band. Miami’s proximity to the Caribbean gave Mr. Jacobi the opportunity to work with many Jamaican legends, among them Jimmy Cliff, Third World and Inner Circle. His interest in the record business was so keen that he became involved in other aspects of the business, such as marketing, promotion, A&R, and sales. In 1990 Mr. Jacobi was approached by Tony Martel, the Vice President of CBS Associated Labels, who offered him his own label; by 1991 Pyramid Records was a reality. The first signing by Jacobi as label head was Eagles guitarist and vocalist Joe Walsh. Mr. Walsh had not made an album in six years and had left the Eagles 10 years before. The first album released on Pyramid in 1991 was called Ordinary Average Guy. The single, also entitled "Ordinary Average Guy", leaped to the #1 position on the rock chart and the album sold over 350,000 copies. Also released on the label were international superstars, Stephen Stills, Public Enemy, Asia, Earth Wind & Fire, Robert Palmer, Stray Cats, Lalah Hathaway, and The Doobie Brothers. In 2005 the label released two time Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductee Stephen Stills’ first solo studio album in 14 years, Man Alive! Under his guidance the company has joined forces with Billboard® Magazine to release a series of music video compilations on DVD entitled “Billboard® Video Hits. In the first quarter of 2007, the company has released platinum selling country star Ty Herndon’s new album Right About Now to rave reviews and a spot on the Billboard Country Album chart as well as Public Enemy’s Fight The Power, Greatest Hits Live. Mr. Jacobi has spoken as an expert in the entertainment industry and has appeared on national television on The Phil Donahue Show, The Geraldo Rivera Show, CNN, MTV, VH-1 Good Morning America and numerous news items on national media throughout the years. He has been quoted in such publications as Rolling Stone Magazine, Billboard Magazine, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Miami Herald, The London Times, etc.
