Allen Holmes is vice president, Tax and Real Estate, for Lyondell Chemical Company.
Prior to joining Lyondell in May 1998, Holmes was vice president and general tax officer for Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO). He joined ARCO in 1985 and served in tax-related positions for ARCOís International and Lower 48 oil and gas divisions based in Texas before being elected a vice president in 1991. His background also includes a variety of systems, tax and financial positions within the petroleum industry as well as private law practice. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and has been a member of the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. Holmes served on the Executive Committee of the American Petroleum Instituteís General Committee on Taxation and is the former chairman of that committee as well as of APIís Committee on Industry Statements and Foreign Source Committee.
He has served on the Advisory Boards for Baylor University School of Business and the University of North Texas, MBA Program. Additionally, he served as a guest lecturer on International Law and Taxation in Baylorís graduate level Business and BBA/JD combined degree programs. He also was a member of the Advisory Committee, Council 10, Boy Scouts of America and a business consultant to the Houston Junior Achievement Program.
Holmes received a BBA in accounting from Baylor University in 1969 and a law degree from Baylor University School of Law in 1975.
