The group's principal activities are generation and sale of electricity. The group is a public utility company and a wholly owned subsidiary of scana corporation. The group serves wholesale and retail customers. The group operates in two segments: electric operations and gas distribution. Under electric operations segment, the group generates, transmits and distributes electricity to 24 counties covering more than 15,000 square miles in the central, southern and southwestern portions of South Carolina. The electricity is provided to industrial, commercial and residential customers. Under gas distribution segment the group purchases and sells natural gas primarily at retail to 33 counties in South Carolina covering 22,000 square miles.
