The company's principal activities are the discovery, research and development of potential biopharmaceutical therapeutics for the treatment of human diseases; import and distribution of biological and chemical reagents and kits for a select group of international companies; and provision of contracting services related to the process development, manufacture and quality assurance of biological products. Products include small molecule semi-synthetic oligosaccharides (short sugar chains) and glycomimetics with anti-angiogenic, anti-metastatic and anti-thrombotic properties which is being developed as both a cancer and cardiovascular product, high quality chemical and biological reagents such as acrylamide, agarose, biochemical reagents and buffers, dna/ rna modifying enzymes and streptavidin. Contracting services offered include the manufacture of biopoducts. Life science accounted for 65% of fiscal 2002 revenues and contract manufacture, 35%.
