The group's principal activity is to market and underwrite general liability, commercial property and multi-peril insurance for small and mid-sized businesses. It primarily write specialty excess and surplus lines insurance through a select group of general agents. The group operates in two segments; property and casualty lines includes general liability, multi-peril and commercial property. Surety lines includes specialty bonds, landfill bonds and bail bonds. The group markets their products through 83 agents. As of 31st dec 2003, it had 117 office locations throughout the United States.
