The group's principal activity is to provide onshore contract drilling services to oil and natural gas operators. The group operates in four segments namely, contract drilling, pressure pumping services, drilling and completion fluids services and oil and natural gas. The group also develops, explores, acquires and produces oil and natural gas. The group acquired one land-based drilling rig in June 2005, and five land-based drilling rigs in September 2005.The group provides pressure pumping services to oil and natural gas operators primarily in the Appalachian Basin, and drilling fluids, completion fluids and related services to oil and natural gas operators in Texas, Southeastern New Mexico, Oklahoma, the Gulf Coast region of Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico. The group is also engaged in the development, exploration, acquisition and production of oil and natural gas, focused primarily in producing regions of West and South Texas, Southeastern New Mexico, Utah and Mississippi. The group operates the contract drilling business primarily in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Western Canada.
