The group's principal activity is to design, develop, manufacture and operate small space and rocket systems for the U.S. Department of defense and other U.S. Government agencies and for global commercial and scientific customers. The group operates in three segments. The launch vehicles and advanced programs segment includes ground and air launched rockets that deliver satellites into orbit and suborbital launch vehicles and missile defense boosters that are used as interceptor and target vehicles for missile defense systems. The spacecraft and related space systems segment includes low-orbit, geosynchronous-orbit and planetary spacecraft for communications, remote sensing and scientific missions and space-related technical services. The transportation management systems segment consists of satellite-based transportation management systems for public transit agencies and private vehicle fleet operators.
