The group offers life insurance, annuities, automobile and property insurance and mutual funds to individuals and group insurance, reinsurance, as well as retirement and savings products and services to corporations and other institutions. The group has international insurance operations in 10 countries. The group's insurance products include variable life products, universal life products, traditional life products, including whole life and term life and other individual products, including individual disability and long-term care insurance. The group is organized into six business segments: institutional, individual, auto and home, international, reinsurance and asset management. In 2003, the group acquired sears tower and john hancock life insurance company.
