The group's principal activity is to provide general commercial banking services. It operates through its banking subsidiary, north country bank and trust. The group renders customary retail and commercial banking services including checking and savings accounts, time deposits and interest bearing transaction accounts through 22 branch offices in the peninsula of Michigan. The services include safe deposit facilities, real estate mortgage lending, commercial lending, commercial and governmental lease financing and indirect consumer financing. Through its non-banking subsidiaries, the group sells annuities as well as life and health insurance, provides relending services to nonprofit organizations, brokers loans and leases including tax-exempt lease/purchase financing to municipalities.
