The group's principal activity is to design and develop absorbable biomaterial products for the orthopaedic, cardiology, drug and biologics delivery and wound care markets. The group has developed the triactiv(tm) balloon protected flush extraction system, a device designed to provide distal protection during saphenous vein graft treatment. The group has also developed the angio-seal(R) vascular closure device, which is used in sealing arterial punctures created during common cardiovascular catheterization procedures such as diagnostic angiography, balloon angioplasty and stenting. Angio-seal(R) vascular closure device is currently marketed, manufactured and distributed by st. Jude medical under a license agreement.
