The group's principal activity is to construct and sell manufactured homes. The group mainly produces single-story, ranch-style homes and also builds one and one-half story and two-story homes, cape cod style homes and multi-family units such as townhouses. It also provides loans to consumers who purchase the group's manufactured homes from both the group-owned and independent retailers. The group operates through two divisions: manufacturing and retail. At 03-Jan-2004, the group operated 30 manufacturing plants in 14 states in the United States and two provinces in western Canada and 78 retail locations in 21 states. In 2003 the group discontinued homepride finance corp, its financial services segment.
