The group's principal activity is to explore, develop, acquire and exploit oil and gas properties. It also transports, stores, gathers and purchases natural gas for resale. The group operates in three regions: the gulf coast region, the western region and mid-continent areas and the appalachian region. Substantially all of its operations are in the appalachian basin of west Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York, and in the anadarko basin of southwestern Kansas, Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle. As of 31-Dec, 2003, the group drilled 173 gross wells.
