The group's principal activity is to develop, manufacture and market an anesthesia monitoring system called bis(R) system. This system enables anesthesia providers to assess and manage a patient's level of consciousness during surgery. The bis(R) system is based on the group's patented core technology, the bispectral index (the bis index). The bis(R) system provides information that allows clinicians to better assess and manage a patient's level of consciousness in the operating room and intensive care settings and administer the precise amount of anesthesia needed by each patient. The bis(R) system includes the bis monitor or bis module kit and the single-use, disposable bis sensors. The group's customers include anesthesia providers, hospitals, outpatient surgical centers and individual practitioners. The group's products are available in more than 160 countries.
