The group's principal activities are to develop, manufacture, market and service semiconductor wafers fabrication equipment and related spare parts for the semiconductor industry. The group manufactures systems that perform most of the primary steps in the chip fabrication process. The customers of the group include semiconductor wafer manufacturers and semiconductor integrated circuit (or chip) manufacturers, who either use the chips they manufacture in their own products or sell them to other companies. The group maintains research, development and manufacturing centers in the United States, Europe and Japan as well as technology centers in Israel, Korea and Taiwan. On 14-Jun-2004, the group acquired torrex.
