The group's principal activity is to provide long-term care services to nursing home patients and residents of assisted living facilities in 9 states, primarily in the southeast and three Canadian provinces. These facilities provide skilled nursing health care services, including room and board, nutrition services, recreational therapy, social services and housekeeping and laundry services. The group also provides delivery of ancillary medical services at the nursing homes. These specialty services include rehabilitation therapy services, such as speech therapy, audiology and occupational, hospital-based respiratory and physical therapies and the provision of medical supplies, nutritional support and infusion therapies. At 31-Dec-2003, the group had 62 nursing homes containing 7,080 licensed beds and 38 assisted living facilities containing 3,965 units. The group discontinued its Canadian operations in 2003.
